As a child, I wavered between unhealthy eating habits and a lack of motivation for physical activity. Naturally, this was a great combination for some grade-A chubbiness. It wasn’t until high school/college that I became more interested in fitness. My workouts included a combination of cardio/running and strength training, but I went through periods of boredom with my routine.
Then one fateful day my boss told me about a new workout she tried at a place called Orangetheory Fitness. Eventually, I tried a free introductory class and signed up instantly afterwards.
I have been a member of Orangetheory for three years now, and I can say that I have never once been bored.

You wear a heart rate monitor that tracks in real time what your heart rate is and how much you’re working. There are five heart rate zones you can fall into based upon how much you can exert yourself. The idea is to push yourself and get comfortable being uncomfortable during your workout. Moreover, Orangetheory Fitness workouts are high-intensity interval training, which, according to a study done in 2017 by The Mayo Clinic, can reverse the aging process. Talk about a win-win!

Who knew dim lighting and loud music could pump you up! Let’s just say staying motivated is not a problem.

The training offered at Orangetheory Fitness is second to none. Everyone who works there is an expert at what they do and they make sure you’re doing everything right (and safe). They not only provide step-by-step instructions, but they keep you motivated the whole hour you’re there. They’re amazing.

You will use the rower almost daily, state-of-the-art treadmills that absorb high-impact energy from running, and either a bike or elliptical if needed. All floor exercises also have modifications for orthopedic restrictions.

Whether you’re an avid runner or have never set foot in a gym, workouts are tailored to how much you can push and challenge yourself. This makes it great for anyone to start and continue to see and feel improvement in their fitness level.
