10 Reasons Why Orangetheory Fitness Can Work For You

As a child, I wavered between unhealthy eating habits and a lack of motivation for physical activity. Naturally, this was a great combination for some grade-A chubbiness. It wasn’t until high school/college that I became more interested in fitness. My workouts included a combination of cardio/running and strength training, but I went through periods of boredom with my routine.

Then one fateful day my boss told me about a new workout she tried at a place called Orangetheory Fitness. Eventually, I tried a free introductory class and signed up instantly afterwards.

I have been a member of Orangetheory for three years now, and I can say that I have never once been bored.

Below are my top 10 reasons why Orangetheory Fitness can work for you:

# 1: It’s backed by science!

You wear a heart rate monitor that tracks in real time what your heart rate is and how much you’re working. There are five heart rate zones you can fall into based upon how much you can exert yourself. The idea is to push yourself and get comfortable being uncomfortable during your workout. Moreover, Orangetheory Fitness workouts are high-intensity interval training, which, according to a study done in 2017 by The Mayo Clinic, can reverse the aging process. Talk about a win-win!

# 2: The atmosphere is awesome!

Who knew dim lighting and loud music could pump you up! Let’s just say staying motivated is not a problem.

# 3: Trained coaches.

The training offered at Orangetheory Fitness is second to none. Everyone who works there is an expert at what they do and they make sure you’re doing everything right (and safe). They not only provide step-by-step instructions, but they keep you motivated the whole hour you’re there. They’re amazing.

# 4: A full-body workout in just one hour.

All day. Every day. One hour. That’s it!

# 5: Every work out is different.

You’ll never get bored with a workout, because A) they’re always different, and B) you don’t have to figure them out yourself and risk falling into a routine. Every time you go to Orangetheory Fitness you do a whole new routine.

# 6: Convenience.

The great thing about Orangetheory Fitness is that it’s growing in popularity, which means more studios are constantly opening up, including in other countries! You can also use your membership at any of these locations if you call in advance to reserve a spot. The studio is open year round (excluding Christmas) every day. No excuses!

# 7: Low impact for joints.

I injured my knee during a full marathon training, so I appreciate that Orangetheory Fitness has low-impact options available. You will use the rower almost daily, state-of-the-art treadmills that absorb high-impact energy from running, and either a bike or elliptical if needed. All floor exercises also have modifications for orthopedic restrictions.

# 8: Great for all fitness levels!

Whether you’re an avid runner or have never set foot in a gym, workouts are tailored to how much you can push and challenge yourself. This makes it great for anyone to start and continue to see and feel improvement in their fitness level.

#9: Body fat scanners (coming soon to a fitness center near you).

You have an accessible way to see exactly how much you’re progressing and changing within your body. Just by stepping on a machine and holding onto some handles, you can see exactly how much body fat and muscle you have in different areas of your body! Yes. Even your hand 🙂

# 10: Sense of community.

Orangetheory Fitness is a growing community that now has members throughout the world! It feels like a journey I can share with people around the globe. The company is also committed to community service and raising money for wonderful causes like ALS and local charities throughout the year.

There are so many more reasons to join, but to me, these are the top ten.

Have you tried Orangetheory Fitness? What are some of your reasons to join?

Hi, thanks for the comment! You’re absolutely right. You do have to pay at certain studios, but the vast majority within the US do not charge an extra fee. Have a nice day!

Thank you for encouraging me to go!!! I started last December and am still going! That’s a pretty big deal for me. I usually wish I wasn’t going to exercise on the way to class, but the hour goes by SO fast, even on the treadmill, and the feeling after having completed a class is definitely worth it! Thanks Rhaki!!
